Animal, Object or Place ("the Game", "we", "us") is operated by Posh Tonic Ltd (www.poshtonic.com). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Game, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: if you sign in, your email address and (for Google sign-in) basic profile information shared by Google. You may also set a display name and avatar in your profile.
• Gameplay data: guesses, scores, attempt history, room membership and activity, leaderboard entries, and your interactions with daily puzzles.
• Device and diagnostics: standard log data such as IP address (used transiently for security and rate-limiting), browser/device type, and error reports.
• Support requests: if you contact us through the in-app support form or by email, we receive the contents of your message and the email address you provide.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Run the Game, generate daily puzzles, and award scores.
• Maintain leaderboards, group rooms, your results history, and the calendar archive.
• Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
• Detect, prevent, and investigate abuse, cheating, or security issues.
• Respond to your support requests and other communications.
• Improve the Game and its clue/scoring systems.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of trusted services to operate the Game:

• Lovable Cloud for authentication, database, and storage hosting (built on Supabase).
• Google OAuth when you choose to sign in with Google. Google's privacy policy applies to the information they share with us.
• OpenAI embeddings for the semantic clue engine. Your guesses may be sent to OpenAI to compute similarity scores. We do not send your email address or account identifier alongside guesses.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences (for example, whether the legal links ribbon is collapsed), and maintain guest game sessions for players who aren't signed in.

5. Data Retention

We keep account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data by emailing animalobjectplace@poshtonic.com. Aggregate or anonymised data may be retained for analytics.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at animalobjectplace@poshtonic.com.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and encryption at rest on our managed database. No service can guarantee perfect security, but we work hard to keep your information safe.

8. Children

The Game is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. International Transfers

We are based in the United Kingdom. Your information may be processed in the UK, the EU, and other countries where our service providers operate.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify users.
